About Pastor Wenger of Community Bible Church

Pastor Jonathan Wenger was raised in a strong Christian home and began his relationship with Jesus Christ while in high school through the influence of a ministry called Young Life. Jon led Young Life clubs while in college and was on their staff in Dallas when he felt called to attend Seminary.

He attended Trinity Evangelical Seminary in Deerfield, Ill. While in seminary, Jonathan met his wife Barbara and they were married on Christmas break during his senior year. Following seminary, the Wengers served churches in Northwest Arkansas, Southern California and Wichita, Kansas.

While living in the Wichita area in July 2007, Jonathan started preaching at Community Bible Church while the church was working through a pastoral transition. After a few months of interim preaching, one of the Elders asked if the Wengers had ever considered ministering at CBC as a full-time ministry. After praying about this question, Jonathan and Barb sensed that God was opening the door for them to make the move to Abilene.

Jonathan and Barb have two grown daughters, in whom they find great delight. Jon enjoys the opportunity to communicate the truths of the Bible through preaching, and he also pursues a lifetime commitment to the game of golf.
